pumpkin patch

Halloween is right around the corner, and the big box stores are doing everything they can to make sure that we all know it. If you’re like most parents, you’ve likely already got your work cut out for you – stocking up on candy, designing and picking out your kids’ next Halloween costumes, and decorating your house on top of your regularly scheduled day is no easy task, but don’t let that stop you from making memories with your family, planning fun activities, and attending seasonal events with your children this Halloween season. Whether you want to take the kids to pick out a pumpkin, get lost in a corn maze, or get spooked in a haunted house, we’ve compiled a list of family-friendly Halloween events in the Modesto area for 2017. Take a look! And don’t get too scared.

1. Dell’Osso Family Farm and Pumpkin Maze

Dell’Osso family farm creates an amazing pumpkin maze every year. While it is in Lathrop (not Modesto), the drive is relatively short, and we know of families who have traveled miles each year to visit. This isn’t your typical pumpkin patch – think of it more like a Halloween themed amusement park. Besides a pumpkin patch, The farm offers a corn maze, pumpkin blasters, haunted house, kids’ zone, food court, pony rides, zip lines, gem mining, and more. This is a great family friendly Halloween event in Modesto this year – and every year, for that matter.

Where: 501 Manthey Road, Lathrop, CA 95330

When: September 30 – October 31, 2017 – 10:00am – 9:00pm

How Much: $11-19 per person, dependent on time of day and day of week; additional cost for other events

2. Downtown Trick or Treat in Turlock

If you’re looking for somewhere to go with the family on Halloween night, why not take them down the road to Turlock? Downtown Turlock’s trick-or-treat event offers a safe space for kids to sport their costumes, hang out with family and friends, and above all, get lots and lots of candy! Give your kids the classic Halloween experience at the downtown trick-or-treat even in Turlock, CA.

Where: 115 South Golden State Boulevard, Turlock, CA 95380

When: October 31, 2017 – 11am – 2pm

3. Higbee Horror Haunt

Ready to be scared? The Higbee Horror Haunt event has upped its game for Halloween 2017. It’s strongly recommended that kids under the age of lucky number 13 be accompanied by a parent, as this place can get kind of scary. The Higbee Horror Haunt is a full-scale haunted house, full of twists, turns, surprises, and lots of frights. This haunt has partnered with Halloween Guys this year to offer you a frightening experience that you’ll never forget.

Where: 2936 Veneman Ave., Modesto, CA 95356

Halloween Horror at Boomers is a brand new event for 2017. This is a family friendly event, but note that it’s best suited for teens (13 and over), since the event runs late and is made to scare your socks off. Hosted by the creators of the Higbee Horror Haunt, be prepared to run away from hungry zombies, hide from prowling monsters, and more. Come test your survival skills and play some arcade games this Halloween at Boomers in Modesto.
